Fastned is establishing a rapid charging network across the UK, with ultra-rapid units being rolled out as part of the firm’s expansion.
Access is via Zap-Pay, smartphone app or RFID card, and Fastned’s Autocharge system is able to automatically recognise the car – once registered – and start the charging process without any other input. Fastned is part of the Zapmap Live data network as well as the Zap-Pay partner network.
Fastned network costs

No connection fees
To discover how much it will cost to charge an EV from an Fastned charge point, head to Zapmap’s Public Charging Calculator. This allows you to select any new or used plug-in vehicle, and tailor elements – such as electricity cost and charge required – for personalised results.
Fastned network access
Access to the Fastned network is made via Zap-Pay, Fastned’s app, or an RFID card from another provider such as NewMotion. Users register either, and payment is taken from the linked bank account after the charge.
Fastned also operates Autocharge, which requires users to register an account, but then automatically recognises cars connected on CCS, and starts the charging process.
Finding Fastned points on Zapmap
All Fastned points can be found on Zapmap by using the network filter. This can be used on the desktop and mobile apps, and displays only those points operated by Fastned.
Charging types and speeds can be filtered too, showing only those points that are compatible with users’ cars.
