Char.gy operates a public EV charging network that sees its units installed in lampposts for easy expansion of on-street charging. The company works with local authorities to help provide EV charging infrastructure for those without off-street charging.
Users can access Char.gy points on a pay-as-you-go basis through Zap-Pay or via the network’s web app.

Char.gy network access
Access to the Char.gy network is via the network’s web app, or through Zap-Pay. Payment is then taken from a credit or debit card linked to the customer’s account after the charging session is complete.
Finding Char.gy points on Zapmap
All Char.gy points can be found on Zapmap by using the network filter. This can be used on the desktop and mobile apps, and displays only those points operated by Char.gy.
Charging types and speeds can be filtered too, showing only those points that are compatible with users’ cars.
About Char.gy
Char.gy manufactures and operates lamppost-mounted, on-street residential electric vehicle charge points. Because there is no need to dig up the pavement – the charge points’ electricity supply is from the lamppost feed – installation is faster than with a conventional unit.
The company’s units use a Type 2 inlet, and charging at up to 7.7 kWh is possible where infrastructure allows. Char.gy went live with Zap-Pay at the end of August 2021.
