SWARCO, the global traffic technology group, has launched SWARCO Smart Charging, a dedicated business aimed at addressing the future electric vehicle (EV) charging needs of customers within local authorities, the public transport sector and commercial fleets.
The new name replaces SWARCO’s existing eVolt brand, which will be phased out 11 years after it was launched. It also comes with a substantial new investment in people and technology from its parent company.
SWARCO Smart Charging will provide software and hardware charging solutions direct to the market. It will also partner with businesses and local authorities that build, own and operate charging points, but need the support of third-party technology and associated maintenance and support services.
“In some ways nothing has changed, as our customers will still be working with the same teams and same technology they have come to know and trust under the eVolt brand,” said Justin Meyer, Managing Director of SWARCO Smart Charging.
“But in other ways, SWARCO Smart Charging is an entirely new evolution, committed to being the number one choice for the country’s leading trend setters in the EV and mobility space, working with those who need quality, reliability, and innovation that sets the standards of excellence.”
The business’s smart charging points are installed across the UK, on the public highway and in bespoke hubs, business premises and private homes, charging private vehicles and commercial fleets as well as buses and trucks.
SWARCO eVolt was heavily involved in creating one of the new generation of charging ‘hubs’ that are proving popular with taxis and private vehicles countrywide. The company has also led the way in creating dedicated e-bus charging facilities, with intelligent software that manages the distribution of charge for maximum efficiency and cost in the context of energy availability.
“Those of us who are passionate about electric vehicles and understand the importance of an EV-connected world know that certainty is the key to creating driver confidence, not only in the products you use but in the partners you choose,” said Meyer.
“We also understand you need simplicity, simple answers to sometimes complex questions, charging solutions that are easy to install and use.”
SWARCO Smart Charging has a wide range of AC/DC charging point technology available, and also provides its smart e.Connect back-office service, energy storage systems or solar car port technologies and can apply them to an existing network.
